WhatsApp Might Let You Change the Chat Bubble Color in a Future Update

WhatsApp is developing a theme customization feature for its instant messaging app, allowing users to select a default chat theme that matches their preferences. WABetaInfo discovered this feature in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.11.10.70 and mentioned that similar updates are expected for Android users.

According to a preview shared by the website, users will be able to choose a wallpaper and a new color for the chat bubbles from a palette of five colors. The selected color will become the user’s default chat theme across the app, visible only to them and not affecting other users’ interfaces.

This new feature is likely to please users seeking an alternative to the traditional green theme, offering more personalization options. WhatsApp had previously offered a blue accent color before switching to its signature green earlier this month. Additionally, reports from earlier this year suggested that the Meta-owned app might enable users to customize UI elements like icons and badges with various colors.

Currently, WhatsApp allows users to change their chat wallpaper, offering a range of solid colors, dark/light-themed wallpapers, and a slider to adjust the visibility of the doodle on the default wallpaper. Users can also set photos from their camera roll as their chat wallpaper.

The ability to customize the chat bubble has been a highly requested feature, as noted by the website. However, the default chat theme feature has not yet been made available to testers running the WhatsApp beta.
