Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra Still Appears to Be Exclusive to Korea

Earlier today, tipster Evleaks revealed a list of notable products Samsung will be unveiling at its next Galaxy Unpacked event. As we mentioned in our exclusive report, this event is set to take place in Paris, France, possibly on July 10. Among the anticipated releases are foldable phones, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, and Samsung’s first smart ring.

However, one notable omission from Evleaks’ list is the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. Does this mean there won’t be a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra this year?

We don’t think so. It’s more likely that Evleaks’ list includes only the devices launching in the USA, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra may not be part of that lineup.

Several rumors have suggested a higher-end Galaxy Z Fold 6 model, and a few weeks ago, it was confirmed that Samsung is developing such a device, potentially named the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. However, this model appears to be exclusively for the Korean market.

It’s not just US consumers who might miss out on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra. From what we’ve heard, there are still no signs of a US or international variant of the Fold 6 Ultra. Typically, US and international variants of new flagship smartphones surface well before their Korean counterparts, indicating that Samsung might be taking a different approach with this phone.

Samsung seems determined to keep the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra tightly under wraps, much like they did with the first Galaxy Fold. There are no solid details on how the Ultra model will differ from the standard one. Samsung typically differentiates its Galaxy S Ultra smartphones with bigger screens, better cameras, and larger batteries, so it’s plausible that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra will follow a similar pattern. But, again, this is all speculative at this point, and we will need concrete information to understand Samsung’s plans for a premium Galaxy foldable.

Enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Galaxy Z Fold 6, set to debut at the next Unpacked event in Paris in early July, just weeks before the 2024 Olympic Games. So far, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has avoided photo leaks, but one design detail has emerged.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 6 might not see significant camera hardware upgrades, there might be small design changes around the lenses. According to a tip from X user @UniverseIce, the rings surrounding the rear-facing cameras could feature a more prominent ridged design.

It’s unclear if this photo shows an actual Galaxy Z Fold 6 camera element, a dummy unit, or a different phone with a similar design used as an example of what the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s camera rings could look like.

This could be the first time Samsung uses this design. The company transitioned from camera housings to individual camera rings and cutouts a few years ago, but the Galaxy Z Fold series still has a slight hump around its rear cameras. Early unofficial CAD renders suggest this won’t change with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but the new leak indicates a refreshed design for the camera rings.

Reports also suggest a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra model, and it remains to be seen if both the standard and Ultra models will share the same camera ring design.
