Qualcomm has unveiled a new “Snapdragon Dev Kit for Windows,” a Mac Mini-like device designed primarily for developers. Priced at $899.99, this compact unit packs the high-performing Snapdragon X Elite chip, featuring a 4.6 TFLOP GPU, 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and 512GB of NVMe storage. Its dimensions are similar to Apple’s mini desktop, but it offers a unique set of features and specifications.
Despite its impressive specs, the Dev Kit is only available in black and weighs around two pounds. Measuring eight by seven by 1.3 inches, it supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and can handle up to three 4K monitors simultaneously.
Connectivity options include three USB4 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, Ethernet, 3.5mm audio, and HDMI. To set up multiple monitors, users will likely need to use at least one USB-C cable or adapter.
The device comes with an external 180W AC adapter for power. While the Dev Kit is more affordable than the latest Microsoft Copilot Plus PCs with similar Qualcomm chips, the difference is marginal—the Surface Laptop 6, for example, starts at $999.99 and includes a built-in screen. Furthermore, the Dev Kit may not be readily available for all consumers; interested buyers might need to complete a contact form on Qualcomm’s website to acquire one.
