Recent leaks have flooded the internet, offering an extensive preview of what Motorola’s upcoming Razr 50 series might entail. Thanks to a comprehensive report from 91Mobiles via Evleaks, the veil of mystery surrounding these devices is gradually lifting, providing enthusiasts with tantalizing details about their potential hardware and features.
Dubbed as the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra, these models are expected to undergo a rebranding in the United States, likely assuming the names of the fourth-generation Razr and Razr Plus, a tradition upheld by the company in previous releases.
One of the most striking revelations from the leaked images is the noticeably larger external screen on the standard model compared to its 2023 predecessor. Reportedly, it boasts a 3.6-inch pOLED display, potentially matching the resolution of last year’s Motorola Razr Plus at 1,066 x 1,056 pixels, with a refreshing 120Hz rate. Meanwhile, the primary internal screen is speculated to maintain the dimensions of the 2023 model, sporting a 6.9-inch pOLED display with Full HD Plus resolution (2,640 x 1,080 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Powering the standard Razr is anticipated to be the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset, a yet-to-be-released powerhouse, potentially making its debut with this device. It’s noted that the device will likely utilize the same 4,200mAh battery as its predecessor, sparking concerns about potential drainage issues given the speculated enhancements in hardware. The performance capabilities of the Dimensity 7300X remain shrouded in mystery. On the imaging front, the standard Razr is expected to sport a dual-camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50 MP primary lens and a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle option, while the front-facing camera is purported to be a 32 MP lens.
Turning attention to the Razr 50 Ultra, it shares many similarities with its counterpart while boasting several notable differences. Foremost, it’s speculated to house the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, a powerhouse currently exclusive to select Chinese smartphones. The outer display is reported to be slightly larger at four inches, with both screens boasting a higher 165Hz refresh rate. The rear camera setup mirrors that of the standard Razr, with dual 50 MP lenses.
In terms of battery capacity, the Razr 50 Ultra is rumored to feature a 4,000mAh power source, a direct upgrade from the 3,800mAh battery of its 2023 predecessor, promising extended usage. Additionally, the higher-end foldable is purported to offer a generous 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, compared to the base model’s 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
While the exact release dates remain unknown, given the wealth of leaked information, the launch could be imminent. Initial pricing estimates for the Razr 50 start at $699/€899, with color options including gray, beige, and a shade reminiscent of dark or burnt orange. Pricing details for the Razr 50 Ultra have yet to surface, but early reports suggest a premium of around “€200 more.” This positions the anticipated cost around €1,099/$1,200, with color options including sage green, peach pink, and a bluish-purple variant.
As with any pre-release information, it’s advisable to approach these leaks with caution, as specifications and details are subject to change before the official unveiling.
