Pakistan Army Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir had a telephonic conversation with the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, to express deep condolences over the tragic helicopter crash on May 19, 2024, which resulted in the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian, and other significant officials.
General Munir conveyed that the late President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian were exceptional leaders and true friends of Pakistan.
He emphasized that the loss of these leaders and others in the crash was profoundly tragic and irreplaceable.
On behalf of all ranks of the Pakistan Army, General Munir extended prayers for the departed souls and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He remarked that Pakistan shares historic, cultural, and fraternal ties with Iran, and the armed forces of both countries have always stood together in solidarity.
General Bagheri thanked General Munir for his condolences and affirmed the continuation of cooperation between the two militaries.
